Santapedia is an online Catholic encyclopedia focused on spreading knowledge about the lives of Saints, Blesseds, and the Catholic Church. It was created to gather and organize information about those who marked the history of our Church. Its goal is to make accessible, in digital format, the testimony of faith and virtue that inspires millions of people.

Creation

Santapedia was created as an initiative by a teenager passionate about technology and the Christian faith, who decided to unite lines of code and spirituality in a single project. It was also created with the intention of being an evangelization tool, so that Catholics from all over the world can discover and deepen their knowledge of the history and culture of their own religion.

Inspirations

The creation of this platform originally had several inspirations. In the name "Santapedia" and in the website’s structure, there is a clear inspiration from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia that enables humanity to share knowledge through articles — and that is also Santapedia’s purpose.

Another inspiration was Saint Carlo Acutis, the Patron Saint of the Internet, a Catholic saint who created the website www.miracolieucaristici.org, dedicated to presenting all known Eucharistic miracles. Following his example, Santapedia seeks to achieve this evangelizing mission by presenting miracles that strengthen the faith of those who read.

Saint Benedict Medal Medal of Saint Benedict.

The Saint Benedict Medal is a Catholic symbol of spiritual protection, faith, and blessings. It is known for driving away evil, envy, temptations, and illnesses, as well as strengthening devotion and connection with the divine. For this reason, the medal is part of the official logo, so that no harm may come.

Colors of the mantle of Our Lady of Aparecida.

The colors of our logo and website structure — blue and gold — were inspired by the mantle of Our Lady of Aparecida, the Patroness of Brazil, so that we may remain under the protection of our Holy Mother.

Mission

Our mission is to share the exemplary life of every saint and blessed, telling their journey toward recognition by the Church. We seek to be a source of inspiration and knowledge for Catholics and for all who are interested in the history of the Church. We also present the miracles they have performed in people's lives, highlighting lesser-known saints to inspire new devotions and strengthen the faith.

Our goal is also to facilitate access to reliable information on Catholic tradition, allowing Santapedia to be used as a reference for research and study, and as a tool for the catechesis of new believers. Our commitment is to the reader, offering trustworthy information based on official Church documents.

"We hope that Santapedia will grow continuously, becoming a digital reference for the faithful, students, and researchers."
